Bill Margol, Director of Development, National Geographic Television (USA)

A graduate of Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Bill Margol has worked, for the last 20 years, in many positions in the television industry, covering the ground of writer, producer and editor. From 1989 until 1992, Bill worked as a writer/producer/editor in the advertising industry at several major ad agencies. Following that, Bill worked as a writer/producer at the Sci-Fi Channel in New York. Starting in 1995, Bill became Executive Producer and Manager of Special Projects at the Sci-Fi Channel, overseeing all specials, documentaries, stunts and events. In 1998, Bill left New York to join TNT in Atlanta, as Director of Program Production, where he oversaw a staff of writers and producers, creating TNT non-fiction specials and short form programming. In 2002, Bill was named Director of Development for TNT Specials and Live Events overseeing the creative development of TNT Specials.

In 2004, Bill joined Travel Channel as Vice President of Production, in charge of all aspects of production on all Travel Channel programming, where he was responsible for the launch of such groundbreaking series as Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations and Not Your Average Travel Guide. In late 2006 Bill left Travel Channel to take on a new role as Vice President of Development & Production for Discovery Studios. In this role, Bill was charged with developing programming to be produced internally by Discovery Productions for all of the Discovery networks.

In 2008, Bill joined National Geographic Television as Director of Development where his is charged with developing series and specials in the areas of Science, History and Archaeology. Bill lives in Olney, Maryland with his wife, Eve, and their two boys.
