Gary McDonagh, Factual Executive, Acquisitions; ITV Global Entertainment (UK)

As Factual Executive for ITV Global, Gary McDonagh helps manage over 400 hours of factual acquisitions and co-productions, through deficit financing and program development. This requires working with the world’s best production companies, helping them to maximize commercial revenues from their programs. ITV Global is one of Europe’s largest, most respected distributors, part of leading UK commercial broadcaster ITV.

Recent acquisitions include In the Womb: Extreme, Planet Science, The Neanderthal Code and Big Bigger Biggest.

Prior to joining ITV in 2006, McDonagh was a factual producer and director with nine years experience, producing 100 Greatest Albums, VH1’s largest original UK commission, as well as cameraman/director for Traffic Cops, a prime-time factual series for BBC1 and cameraman/director on Animal Precinct New York and Animal Cops Detroit.

He has also run his own company, Strawberry Blonde Productions, and produced for Bravo, VH1/MTV Networks and Channel 4. Outside of ITV, McDonagh is a keen photographer and has written for Broadcast magazine. He received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Stirling, Scotland and the University of Kansas, USA.
