Richard Bradley, Managing Director, Lion Television (UK)
Richard is a founder of Lion Television, one of the industry’s most successful production companies. Richard specializes in both popular and ambitious history, science, arts and documentary projects. Under his creative leadership, Lion has assembled one of the most widely-respected historical, documentary and specialist factual program producing units with a worldwide reputation for innovative and accessible television. Richard’s recent credits at Lion include the hit comedy series Horrible Histories (CBBC/BBC One), winner of 13 awards; First Light, a drama for BBC2; BAFTA-nominated Pompeii with Mary Beard (BBC2); Cleopatra: Portrait of a Killer (Discovery/BBC One/NHK); and Great Wall of China (C4/France 5/Discovery). Richard was also involved in devising Britain from Above (BBC One/Two/Four/BBC online), Victorian Farm (BBC2), and Emmy award-winning Atlas: China Revealed (Discovery). Richard has unparalleled experience of the joys and challenges of ambitious co-productions, and has enjoyed creating pioneering production partnerships in Asia and the Middle East. Prior to founding Lion, Richard was a successful director and producer at the BBC for 12 years where he won many awards including two Emmys. Before that, Richard was a book editor and teacher in rural Kenya.
