Hideki Tazuke, Senior Producer, Special Content Development Center, NHK (Japan)

Hideki Tazuke joined NHK in 1986 as a TV Director. From 1989 he started focusing his attention on science programs. Since then he has been involved in producing many programs from hardcore science documentaries to science entertainment programs. While his main interest lies in science programs, he also has a wide knowledge of natural history programs and developed NHK’s main natural history slot Nature Wonder Land. His major works include Miracle Planet II (co-produced with Science Channel, NFB/Discovery Canada, Tele Images International/France 5, and Telepool), Crash: China Airlines, Giant Squid 1 (co-produced with Discovery and Gedeon Programmes), Try and Gotcha*, and Total Solar Eclipse 2009. He is now producing his next large-scale documentary series, The Cosmic Shore, to be broadcast in 2011/2012.
