Junichi Katayama, Executive Producer, International Co-production, NHK (Japan)

Katayama joined NHK in 1984. He currently serves as an Executive Producer for International Co-Production since 2006, following four-years of service as the Vice President of NHK Enterprises America, one of NHK’s affiliates for program production. As a documentary and news program director, he covered a wide range of international incidents, which include China after Tiananmon Square incident, and the presidential election in Korea. Between1994-1997, he served as a correspondent for NHK's Paris bureau, where he travelled to cover the Rwandan mass killing and Bosnian War. Katayama is in charge of NHK’s new HD slot, Frontier. In this 90-minute slot, he is looking for a line-up of programs that will expand possibilities for visual expression and explore the frontier of television.
