2009 World Congress of Science & Factual Producers : Melbourne, Australia December 1-4

Mark Hamlyn, Head of Specialist Factual, ScreenWorld (Australia)

As the head of Specialist Factual at ScreenWorld in 2009, Mark Hamlyn has overseen a diverse range of factual/documentary productions. This has included the three-part docudrama Darwin’s Brave New World a ScreenWorld/Ferns international co-production, the 3 part documentary series Law and Disorder, and the 1-hour documentary Shintaro - the Samurai Sensation that Swept a Nation.

Before joining ScreenWorld Mark worked as both Director of Commissioned Production for Screen Australia, and before that Head of Production for Film Australia. During this time he oversaw the commissioning of an exciting range of major documentary and factual programming that has won both ratings and critical acclaim.

Before joining Film Australia, Mark had a long career with the ABC, where he was Head of Documentaries, Executive Producer of the television science unit and a founding series producer of the long running Quantum magazine and documentary strand.

In November of 2009, Beyond International announced it would take over the ScreenWorld production slate under Marks’ direction.
