Chris Haws, International Media Consultant (USA)
After training as an experimental psychologist, specializing in human visual perception, Chris began his broadcasting career at the BBC in London. Since then he has produced award-winning science, history and wildlife documentaries for broadcasters around the world. In the 1980s, he founded the internationally successful UK production company InCA, chaired the EU’s Documentary Project, and created the Amsterdam Documentary Forum. In the 1990s, he was Discovery Europe’s first VP and CE, where he created the internationally acclaimed First Time Film Makers seasons. He then went on to become a Senior VP for Discovery Networks International in the USA and an advisory board member of the Discovery Channel Global Education Partnership. Now, through his privately owned consultancy, he advises world governments, multinational organizations and the international broadcast industry on media policy and strategy. He is also still an active filmmaker and is currently writing, producing, directing and supervising factual programming for a wide range of international clients.
