Jonathan Hewes, Deputy Head of International, Wall to Wall (UK)

Jonathan Hewes is involved in the development and production of a wide range of the company’s programming, with particular responsibility for internationally co-financed programming. Currently he is in production on films for Channel 4, More 4, PBS, History, National Geographic, msnbc and HBO. Jonathan initiated Wall to Wall’s move into theatrical documentaries with Man on Wire, which he executive produced and which won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature at the 81st annual Oscars, the BAFTA Award for Outstanding British Film and over 30 other international awards. He joined Wall to Wall in 1995, becoming Head of Factual Programmes in 1997, Creative Director in 2003, Deputy Chief Executive in 2006 and Head of International in 2011. Jonathan started his TV career as a journalist on BBC’s flagship daily show, Nationwide, before abandoning current affairs for pop TV, as producer of Britain’s most celebrated rock show, The Tube. After two award-winning classical music series with Dudley Moore, he produced a wide range of arts programs in the 1990s. Awards and nominations for productions he has produced or executive produced include: Academy Award for Best Documentary, BAFTA for Outstanding British Film, International Emmy, Gold Medal at New York Film Festival, Post Montreux winner, Royal Television Society Programme Awards, Royal Television Society Education Awards and Ohio State Award.
