Marcus Herbert, Executive Producer, Specialist Factual, BBC Scotland (UK)
Marcus has had a varied career within television, spanning science, the arts and current affairs. Since 2007 he has helped build up BBC Scotland’s Glasgow-based team into one of the BBC’s major suppliers of science programs. His production credits include Jimmy’s Global Harvest (BBC2), Cell (BBC4), Darwin’s Garden (BBC2), and the One Show (BBC1). Marcus came to Glasgow in 2004 to help launch the Culture Show, the BBC’s arts magazine show. His background is in current affairs: he was previously assistant editor on Newsnight (BBC2) and he worked for several years as a foreign news producer in Washington and Moscow. He has just returned from a 9-month sabbatical as a Knight Journalism Fellow at Stanford University, where he explored the impact of digital technology on factual TV.
