Dresden Reborn: A Private Tour of the Frauenkirche
Friday, Dec. 3 12:30 am - 01:30 am
Thanks to generous arrangements by Host Broadcaster ZDF, WCSFP delegates will have exclusive access to one of Dresden’s most famous landmarks, the Frauenkirche. Built in the 18th century, the church was destroyed in the firebombing of Dresden during World War II. It has been reconstructed as a landmark symbol of reconciliation between former warring enemies. The reconstruction of its exterior was completed in 2004, its interior in 2005 and, after 13 years of rebuilding, the church was reconsecrated on October 30, 2005. ZDF has made special arrangements for WCSFP members to be treated to a private organ recital and a tour of the church. As you take your seat in the pews, you will absorb the enormity of the structure and listen as one of the church’s priests speaks to you about the history, the destruction and the reconstruction of this famed building.
